UCS Vs HP Matrix Vs Dell &amp; Xsigo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--:it-->When we attended a conference in Rome (<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.vmengine.net\/2009\/06\/09\/eventodata-center-evolutionverso-l%E2%80%99unified-computing-system\/\">Data Center Evolution<\/a>), Cisco described its vision for the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.vmengine.net\/2009\/03\/28\/unified-computing-cloud-computing-novita-o-moda\/\">Unified Computing System<\/a> (UCS), focusing on the FCoE (Fiber Channel Over Ethernet) protocol and how Cisco supported this rather than the more performing Infiniband.<\/p>\n<p>We asked the speaker Roberto Missana (Channel Product Sales Specialist of Cisco and Vice Chairman of SNIA Italia) the reason for the choice to abandon the Infiniband protocol, given the higher performance, the lower latency and the lower hardware cost and we were answered that in the immediate future FCoE would have gone from supporting 10GbE to the incredible 100GbE.<\/p>\n<p>Well, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ethernetsummit.com\/\">Ethernet Technology Summit 2010<\/a> conference that will be held on February 23-24-25 in San Jose (CA-USA) where there will be a Full Day Tutorial dedicated to 40\/100 GbE &amp; FCoE, would demonstrate the validity of Cisco&#8217;s vision.<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dell.com\">Dell&#8217;s <\/a>interest in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xsigo.com\">Xsigo <\/a>solutions (based on Infiniband), under our watchful eye since 2007, aimed at wanting to oppose the leadership of UCS as raised by the second point of the following <a href=\"http:\/\/searchvmware.techtarget.com\/news\/article\/0,289142,sid179_gci1377638,00.html?track=sy840&amp;utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed:+SearchvmwarecomVmwareTipsAndTricks+(SearchVMware.com:+VMware+tips+and+tricks)&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader%20\">techtarget<\/a> article and the recent acquisition of 3Com by HP and the new <a href=\"http:\/\/h18004.www1.hp.com\/products\/blades\/components\/matrix\/main.html\">HP BladeSystem Matrix<\/a> (Integrated shared services infrastructure for Cloud Computing),  They should call everything into question.<\/p>\n<p>In short, in 2010 we will see more and more complete HW platforms for the total virtualization of datacenters, platforms prepared for cloud computing.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s see.<!--:--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When we attended a conference in Rome (Data Center Evolution), Cisco described its vision for the Unified Computing System (UCS), focusing on the FCoE (Fiber Channel Over Ethernet) protocol and how Cisco supported this rather than the more performing Infiniband.
